Frequently asked questions
What is the "Execution Gap"?
It's the space between what leaders decide and what actually happens on the ground. Most organisations don't have a strategy problem — they have an execution problem. The Execution Gap names that gap so it can be worked on directly, rather than assumed away.
What does "System Noise" mean?
System Noise is the unwanted variation in how similar decisions get made across a team or organisation — different people reaching different conclusions from the same information, often without anyone noticing. It's a hidden cost to performance, and it's measurable and improvable.
Are you a consultant, a coach, or a trainer?
All three, depending on what's needed. Some engagements are facilitated diagnostic work, others are one-to-one coaching, and others are structured workshops or training. The starting point is always understanding what the actual problem is before deciding on the format.
Who do you typically work with?
Corporate and healthcare leaders and teams across Australia who are navigating change, restructuring or performance challenges — anywhere the gap between intent and execution is causing friction.
What is the Team Change Readiness Audit?
A facilitated, in-room diagnostic session (around 90 minutes) that surfaces how ready a team genuinely is for a change that's underway or coming. It's not a self-serve survey — it's designed to be run with a skilled facilitator, because the value comes from the conversation it generates, not just the output.
Do you work with individuals or teams?
Both. Some tools, like the Left-Hand Column reflection exercise, work well as individual practice. Others, like the Readiness Audit or the CLARC Conversation Tool, are built for team or group use.
What theoretical foundations does your work draw on?
The practice draws on established organisational behaviour research — including Argyris and Schön's work on theories of action, Kahneman's work on judgement and decision-making, and change management frameworks including Prosci. The aim is rigour without jargon.
Is this generic change management training?
No. The tools and frameworks here are built around the specific mechanics of why intent fails to become execution, rather than generic best-practice checklists.
Are you based in Tasmania — can you work with organisations elsewhere?
Based in Launceston, Tasmania, and working with clients across Australia and elsewhere in the world as needed. In person and remotely depending on the engagement and the nature of the problem to be solved.
